How GoRoute driver insurance coverage works

GoRoute maintains a commercial insurance policy that provides coverage for drivers during different stages of the driving process. The level of coverage depends on your current status in the app.
The three coverage periods
GoRoute's insurance is structured around three distinct periods:
- Period 1 — App on, waiting for a request: You're online but haven't accepted a ride. GoRoute provides contingent liability coverage that supplements your personal auto insurance. This covers third-party injuries and property damage if your personal policy doesn't apply.
- Period 2 — En route to pickup: You've accepted a request and are driving to the rider. GoRoute provides primary liability coverage of up to $1 million per incident, plus contingent collision and comprehensive coverage (subject to a deductible).
- Period 3 — Trip in progress: The rider is in your vehicle. GoRoute provides the highest level of coverage, including $1 million in third-party liability, uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage, and contingent collision and comprehensive coverage with a $2,500 deductible.
What's covered
GoRoute's commercial policy covers bodily injury and property damage to third parties, as well as damage to your vehicle (subject to the deductible). It also covers injuries to your passenger. Medical payments coverage is included for you and your passenger regardless of fault.
What's not covered
GoRoute's insurance does not cover personal trips, damage from normal wear and tear, or mechanical breakdowns. It also does not cover personal belongings left in the vehicle. If you're offline and not on a GoRoute trip, only your personal auto insurance applies.
Filing a claim
To file an insurance claim, report the incident in the GoRoute app first, then contact GoRoute's insurance partner using the information provided in your incident confirmation email. Have your police report number, photos of the damage, and the other party's insurance details ready. Claims are typically processed within 10 to 15 business days.
