Completing the courier background check process

Last updated March 8, 2026

All GoRoute courier applicants must pass a background check before they can begin delivering. This screening protects our customers and merchant partners and is conducted by our third-party provider, Checkr.

What's included in the check

  • Identity verification: Confirmation that your name, date of birth, and Social Security number match public records.
  • Criminal history: A search of national and county criminal databases covering the past seven years.
  • Driving record (car couriers only): If you're delivering by car, a motor vehicle report checks for major violations like DUIs or suspended licenses.
  • Sex offender registry: A check against the national sex offender database.

Expected timeline

Most background checks are completed within 3 to 7 business days. Checks involving multiple counties or states may take longer. You can monitor the status at any time in Account > Application Status in the GoRoute Courier app.

What can cause issues

Common delays include name or address discrepancies and records that require manual court verification. Disqualifying offenses include felony convictions within the past seven years, DUI convictions within the past three years (for car couriers), and sex offender registry listings.

If you believe your background check contains an error, you have the right to dispute the findings directly with Checkr. GoRoute will provide you with a copy of the report and instructions for filing a dispute. Once the dispute is resolved, your application is automatically re-evaluated.
