How to accept your first delivery order

Last updated March 12, 2026

Your first delivery can feel like a lot of moving parts, but GoRoute guides you through every step. Here's a complete walkthrough from going online to confirming drop-off.

Going online

Open the GoRoute Courier app and tap Start Delivering. Make sure your location services are enabled and your phone volume is up. You'll be placed in the delivery queue for your selected zone and will start receiving order notifications.

Receiving and accepting an order

When an order is available, you'll hear a chime and see a card showing the restaurant name, estimated payout (including tip if pre-tipped), pickup distance, and drop-off distance. You have about 30 seconds to decide. Tap Accept to take the order, or let it pass and wait for the next one.

Picking up the order

After accepting, the app navigates you to the restaurant or store. When you arrive, tap Arrived at Store. Go inside, give the staff the order number displayed on your screen, and collect the items. Check that the number of items matches what's shown in the app — you don't need to open sealed bags, but count the containers. Once you have everything, tap Picked Up.

Delivering to the customer

The app switches to navigation mode and directs you to the customer's address. When you arrive, check the delivery instructions — the customer may have specified "leave at door," "hand to me," or provided a gate code or apartment number. Follow their instructions carefully.

Confirming drop-off

For leave-at-door orders, place the food at the specified location, take a photo as proof of delivery, and tap Complete Delivery. For hand-to-me orders, wait for the customer to answer, hand them the order, and then tap Complete Delivery. Your payout is confirmed immediately and appears in your Earnings tab. You're now ready for your next order.
