How to sign up as a GoRoute driver

Getting started as a GoRoute driver is straightforward and can be completed entirely from your phone. The signup process typically takes about 10 minutes, though you'll need to wait for document verification and your background check before you can start accepting rides.

What you'll need

Before you begin, make sure you have the following documents and information ready:

• A valid driver's license issued in your country of residence
• Proof of vehicle registration in your name (or an authorized driver letter from the registered owner)
• Proof of auto insurance that meets your state or province's minimum coverage requirements
• A clear, recent photo of yourself for your driver profile
• Your Social Security number or tax identification number for earnings reporting

Step-by-step signup

1. Download the GoRoute Driver app from the App Store or Google Play. Make sure you download the Driver version, not the rider app.
2. Create your account by entering your name, email address, and phone number. You'll receive a verification code via SMS to confirm your number.
3. Enter your personal details including your date of birth, home address, and Social Security number. This information is required for the background check and tax reporting.
4. Upload your documents. Take clear photos of the front and back of your driver's license, your vehicle registration, and your insurance card. Blurry or expired documents will be rejected.
5. Add your vehicle. Enter your vehicle's year, make, model, color, and license plate number. You'll also need to upload photos of the exterior and interior of your car.
6. Take your profile photo. This photo is shown to riders so they can identify you. Use a well-lit, front-facing photo where your face is clearly visible. Sunglasses and hats are not permitted.
7. Consent to the background check. GoRoute partners with a third-party screening provider to review your driving and criminal history. This step is required before activation.

What happens next

Once you've submitted your application, GoRoute will review your documents — typically within 24 to 48 hours. Your background check runs in parallel and usually takes 3 to 10 business days. You'll receive push notifications and emails as each step is completed. When everything is approved, you'll see a "Go Online" button on your home screen, and you're ready to start earning.

If any documents are rejected, you'll receive a notification explaining the issue. Common reasons include blurry photos, expired documents, or mismatched names. Simply re-upload the corrected document and your review will resume.
